Job description
Role overview
Ryanair is hiring a Customer Service Lawyer to join its growing legal team in Dublin, supporting a major airline operation that is planning substantial expansion over the next decade. The role is focused on protecting the company’s interests while helping ensure compliance with EU Regulation 261/2004 and related passenger rights obligations.
This opportunity suits someone who is energetic, self-driven, and comfortable working in a fast-moving environment where practical problem-solving and legal judgement are essential.
What the role involves
The position supports the Customer Service Legal team and wider business with the legal handling of disruption-related claims across the jurisdictions in which the airline operates. It combines litigation support, regulatory interaction, evidence management, stakeholder coordination, and process improvement.
Key responsibilities
- Support the handling of litigation matters across all jurisdictions where the company operates.
- Where needed, attend court hearings and represent the business in proceedings.
- Contribute to dispute resolution and litigation strategy discussions.
- Work alongside external counsel in different markets.
- Engage with National Enforcement Bodies and other regulators.
- Keep track of passenger-rights rules and relevant EU and national laws, then share updates with the team.
- Respond to legal queries and escalations from internal teams, external partners, and legal authorities.
- Assist Customer Service Agents dealing with legal claims.
- Monitor compliance with internal procedures and litigation policies.
- Help prepare and deliver legal training for Customer Service Agents and internal legal/regulatory teams.
- Coordinate evidence gathering for flight disruption matters with the Operations team.
- Handle a large flow of requests for instructions, information, and supporting evidence.
- Build and maintain productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Identify process improvements and take responsibility for helping put them into practice.
- Carry out additional duties as needed in a high-pressure, dynamic setting.
Requirements
- Formal legal qualifications are required.
- Strong practical experience in EU261 and consumer law is important.
- Prior litigation experience is needed.
- Willingness to travel when required.
- Strong legal drafting and writing ability.
- A proactive mindset with a solution-focused approach.
- Ability to work independently and determine the next actions without close supervision.
- Good knowledge of consumer-protection law, especially at European level.
- Capacity to learn quickly, take initiative, and manage a varied workload within strict legal deadlines.
- Excellent organisational, planning, record-keeping, and communication skills.
- Full professional fluency in written and spoken English is essential.
- Additional European languages would be an advantage.
Benefits
- Competitive compensation package.
- Discounted, unlimited travel to more than 250 destinations.
- Death-in-service cover worth up to twice the annual base salary.
- 20 days of annual leave, rising to 22 days after 12 months and 25 days after 3 years of continuous service.
- Option to take up to 5 extra unpaid leave days each year.
- Cycle-to-work scheme.
- Strong opportunities for career growth and progression.
