Role overview
An energy conglomerate with a sizable international trading footprint is looking to hire a Crude Oil Trade Operator for its Singapore-based crude team. The position exists to support growth in the business and strengthen day-to-day trade operations.
What the role involves
Reporting to the Crude Operations Manager, you will work closely with traders, counterparties, brokers, inspectors, agents, terminals, and shipping teams to keep cargo movements and trade administration on track.
Operational duties
- Manage vessel nominations, cargo planning, and loading/discharge activities.
- Track laytime and demurrage exposure across cargo movements.
- Prepare and maintain trade paperwork, including Bills of Lading, invoices, Certificates of Quality, and Letter of Credit documents.
- Ensure operational processes align with internal controls and applicable regulatory standards.
- Identify, escalate, and help resolve operational and contractual issues, including discrepancies and claims.
- Coordinate with finance to support correct invoicing and timely payment processing.
Requirements
The company is seeking someone with a degree in engineering or another relevant discipline, plus at least 2 years of experience in physical trade operations within the commodities sector. A solid understanding of incoterms, laytime and demurrage, and documentary trade processes, especially Letters of Credit, is important.
Success in this role also requires the ability to handle several cargoes at once in a busy environment, along with strong coordination and relationship management skills across trading, shipping, and finance stakeholders.
