Role Overview
This opening is for an experienced Credit Risk Manager to join the Port Harcourt team in a full-time, on-site capacity. The position is responsible for evaluating, approving, and continuously tracking credit exposure across the loan portfolio while ensuring that lending practices remain aligned with internal standards and regulatory expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and assess credit applications and support sound approval decisions.
- Establish, monitor, and periodically reassess credit limits.
- Create and implement measures that reduce risk for micro and small business lending.
- Track portfolio performance and highlight signs of emerging credit risk.
- Recommend corrective actions to protect and improve portfolio quality.
- Work closely with lending, finance, and operations teams to strengthen credit policies and procedures.
- Help refine risk models and improve the bank’s credit assessment approach.
- Train team members on effective credit evaluation and risk management practices.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Hands-on experience in credit risk management and credit administration, including assessment, approvals, and mitigation methods.
- Strong analytical ability for interpreting financial information, credit reports, and portfolio trends.
- Good working knowledge of finance, including financial statements, cash flow analysis, and credit indicators.
- Background in portfolio monitoring, key risk tracking, and remedial action planning.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related discipline; professional certifications will be an added benefit.
- Comfort using spreadsheets, data analysis tools, and credit risk or loan management systems.
- Clear communication, stakeholder coordination, and report-writing skills.
- Ability to perform well in a fast-moving, goal-oriented environment while maintaining integrity and sound judgment.
