Role overview
This fixed-term position is for a Court Registry Officer based in Christchurch for 8 months. You will be part of a team that helps keep court operations running smoothly and will work with a range of people including judges, lawyers, and members of the public.
What you'll do
The role combines several different duties and requires a careful, customer-focused approach.
- Manage court files so that records stay accurate, complete, and current, including a strong amount of data entry and judgement-based decisions.
- Support court sittings by opening proceedings in English and Te Reo Māori, assisting judicial staff in court and chambers, and handling general administrative tasks.
- Respond to court-related enquiries from customers in person, by phone, and by email.
Skills and experience needed
You will take pride in delivering work to a high standard, with strong accuracy and a professional manner. This position can suit people from many different backgrounds, including those interested in the justice system, people returning to work, or those who enjoy serving customers.
- Resilience to handle sensitive matters, busy periods, and a fast-moving court environment.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to spot and correct inaccuracies in case information.
- Self-awareness and maturity when dealing with a wide range of people and situations.
- Good multitasking skills and the ability to shift quickly between competing priorities.
- A willingness to learn and adapt as court processes and legislation change.
- Clear communication skills, solid English, and confident pronunciation of Te Reo Māori.
- Comfort using audio-visual equipment is an advantage.

Salary
The pay range for this role is $60,729 to $80,794 pro rata, with the final offer depending on skills and experience.
