Countertop Templater Technician

Role overview

FLOFORM Countertops is looking for a full-time Countertop Templater to join its Saskatoon branch right away. The company is based in Winnipeg, Manitoba and operates 16 branches along with 5 manufacturing facilities across Western Canada and the Pacific Northwest. It produces, sells, and installs more than 20,000 premium surface countertops each year and has been recognized as one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies since its establishment in 1961.

What this role does

This position is focused on producing digital templates and files that support the final countertop product. The work includes setting up CNC router programming and preparing CAD files both in the shop and at customer locations for the fabrication of custom countertops in a variety of materials. A key part of the job involves visiting client homes to confirm final measurements.

Qualifications and experience

Applicants should bring relevant post-secondary training plus 1 to 2 years of hands-on experience using Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and CAM software. Experience in kitchen or bathroom construction, installation, or a similar field is preferred, along with at least 2 years in templating, fabrication, installation, or drafting. Familiarity with digital templating is needed. The role also requires the ability to read blueprints and schematics, work accurately with measurements, and use intermediate-level math. Strong in-person customer service abilities, a polished professional presentation, clear communication in English, and the ability to work well with people from different backgrounds are essential. A valid driver’s license and a clear criminal record check are also required.

Daily duties

Work is performed at customer homes and business locations, where measurements and templates are created for installation projects. The technician records all required details on work orders, including dimensions, polished edges, sink and cooktop cut-outs, faucet openings, top radiuses, and any other customer-specific requirements. The role also includes explaining any needed modifications, sharing important information about templating and installation, answering routine on-site questions, and passing relevant updates to sales, operations, or production teams quickly. Completed templates and work orders must be turned in within 24 to 48 hours of templating. The position also requires keeping the company vehicle clean and well maintained, producing accurate digital drawings for countertops and sinks, and handling additional duties as assigned.

Work conditions

This is a day-shift role, Monday through Friday, with possible overtime. Some travel outside town is expected. The job can be physically demanding and may require climbing stairs and ladders, lifting, squatting, standing for long periods, kneeling, bending, and twisting. The ability to lift up to 50 lbs is required.
