Role overview
The Corporate Counsel will act as an important legal advisor to the business, taking ownership of a broad range of commercial agreements and helping the company grow in an efficient and responsible way. This position calls for an attorney with strong business sense who can work on their own, weigh legal exposure against commercial goals, and deliver practical guidance to different teams. The right candidate should be confident with commercial contracts, comfortable handling privacy and regulatory matters, and able to collaborate effectively in a fast-moving, growth-focused setting.
Location
This is a remote role within the United States. Candidates based in EST or CST are preferred.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, examine, and negotiate a variety of agreements, including SaaS contracts, master service agreements, partnership agreements, vendor contracts, and other commercial documents.
- Update and strengthen contract templates, playbooks, and internal contracting processes.
- Create and review privacy-related materials such as data processing agreements, privacy notices, terms of use, and risk assessments.
- Support the use of AI-driven tools in legal operations, including contract review automation.
- Contribute to contract lifecycle management and help improve the use of contract management systems.
- Handle one-off legal assignments and support wider legal department initiatives.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school and an active law license in good standing.
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience negotiating commercial agreements in a law firm, in-house setting, or both.
- Ability to independently manage and negotiate customer and vendor contracts.
- Working knowledge of data privacy, intellectual property, and regulatory issues, including GDPR and CCPA.
- Strong written and verbal communication, negotiation, and project management abilities.
- High attention to detail with a solid grasp of legal and business risk in contracts.
- Self-directed problem solver who can perform well in a fast-paced environment.
