Overview
PRMG is looking for experienced Underwriters who can contribute to a stable, collaborative mortgage lending environment. This role supports remote work from anywhere in the United States and is designed for professionals who value balance, teamwork, and long-term growth. Responsibilities
- Review mortgage loan files in detail to confirm they meet company and investor standards.
- Assess the full credit package and collateral for residential mortgage loans to ensure the file meets investment-quality expectations.
- Verify calculation accuracy and data consistency, and complete all required underwriting worksheets in the Fast Trac 360 Resource Center.
- Support onboarding and development by helping train new underwriters.
- Escalate loan recommendations to the underwriting manager when a file exceeds personal approval authority.
- Maintain target productivity and follow the company’s 48-hour underwriting decision turnaround and 24-hour condition-clearing turnaround expectations.
- Aim to complete three underwriting decisions per day within assigned timelines.
- Communicate underwriting outcomes clearly to relevant parties, both verbally and in writing.
- Keep underwriting activity logs current and submit a monthly report to the underwriting manager.
- Serve as a resource for processors and correspondents who need guidance on underwriting rules or specific loan questions.
- Respond promptly to post-closing reviews and audits.
- Carry out other duties assigned by the Underwriter or Operations Manager.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of mortgage underwriting experience with a strong command of underwriting standards.
- Hands-on experience underwriting private investor and private mortgage insurance guidelines.
- Strong relationship-building and interpersonal communication abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.
- Well-developed analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable using technology and underwriting-related systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or equivalent professional experience.
