Where you'll work

Job description

About the role

Contiki is seeking Trip Drivers in New Zealand/Aotearoa to help deliver unforgettable travel experiences for 18–35-year-old travellers. This role goes far beyond standard driving work: you will be responsible for moving guests across the country, from dramatic coastlines to alpine routes, while helping shape trips they will remember for years.

Trip Drivers come from varied backgrounds, but the role suits people who are professional, people-oriented, and genuinely enthusiastic about New Zealand and travel. Full training is provided, and prior coach-driving experience is not required.

What you will bring

  • Strong enthusiasm for New Zealand and for welcoming visitors who travel there
  • Willingness to be away from home for longer stretches, especially across the peak summer period from December to February
  • Good organisational skills, including the ability to manage time well and stay detail-focused
  • A calm, mature, and professional approach when dealing with travellers from many cultures and language backgrounds
  • Comfort working both independently and alongside Trip Managers, local guides, suppliers, and the Operations team
  • Resilience, flexibility, and a positive mindset when plans change or challenges arise
  • High personal standards and a strong commitment to doing excellent work
  • Consistent focus on safety at all times

Requirements

  • You must be a New Zealand citizen or resident, or hold a valid work visa
  • A clean driving history and strong references are required
  • You should hold a Class 4 licence and a P Endorsement; if you do not yet have the passenger endorsement, you may still apply at this stage
  • Applicants without a Class 4 licence may still be considered if they have held a Class 2 licence for at least 6 months and can secure a Class 4 licence and P Endorsement quickly

What happens next

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to take part in a Contiki New Zealand Training Trip. A permanent role will be offered once training is completed to the standard required by the Trainer and Management team.

Why Contiki

Contiki has been a leading travel brand for 18–35s for more than 60 years. Joining the road crew means more than just taking on a driving position — it is stepping into a lifestyle. You will represent Contiki on the road, help deliver once-in-a-lifetime holidays, and enjoy staff travel benefits that extend well beyond New Zealand.
