Job description

Role overview

Cascades is looking for a Container Recycling Sorter to join its Victoria team. This is a hands-on role in a workplace that places strong emphasis on health and safety while helping turn recycled materials into usable products.

Benefits

  • Hourly pay of $20.76
  • Permanent full-time schedule with guaranteed hours
  • Work hours from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday
  • Coverage including group insurance, telemedicine, and an employer-matched retirement plan
  • Profit sharing and an employee share purchase plan
  • Employee assistance support for physical and mental well-being
  • Referral bonus for helping bring new people onto the team

Key duties

The sorter will spend most of the day on the production floor handling recycled containers and supporting the team’s daily operations.

  • Sort, grade, and place recycled materials in the correct locations according to department needs and production standards.
  • Carry out additional tasks assigned by the Department Lead Hand, including housekeeping, equipment and yard cleanup, Schaeffer washing, snow removal, and helping truck drivers.
  • Handle occasional outdoor grounds maintenance, including light gardening roughly once a month.
  • Provide flexible support wherever needed to keep operations running smoothly.

What the role calls for

  • Strong commitment to health and safety
  • Comfort with practical, team-oriented work
  • Resourcefulness and willingness to take initiative
  • Positive attitude and collaborative mindset
  • Interest in learning on the job, with training provided
  • Ability to work outdoors
  • Good hand-eye coordination
  • Capacity to work independently unless a project requires teamwork
  • Ability to remain standing for the full shift
  • Willingness to work in both hot and cold seasonal conditions

Additional information

Cascades says it welcomes diversity and inclusion and reviews all applications fairly.

The company also notes that the position requires support across a range of operational tasks, not just sorting, and that work may involve outdoor exposure and seasonal weather conditions.
