The Construction Manager - Civil will lead all civil construction works for an electrical substation project, covering voltage levels such as 33kV, 132kV, 220kV, and above. Key responsibilities

• Examine civil drawings, technical specifications, and the full construction scope for the substation.
• Create and track schedules for civil construction activities.
• Align civil work execution with electrical and mechanical installation teams.
• Organize the sequence of earthworks, foundations, equipment structures, buildings, and supporting infrastructure.
• Oversee site clearing, excavation, grading, leveling, cut-and-fill operations, soil compaction, and ground improvement.
• Apply geotechnical recommendations derived from soil investigation reports.
• Direct foundation work for key electrical equipment including power transformers, circuit breakers, gantries, bus support structures, CT/VT units, and isolators.
• Ensure foundation dimensions, load-bearing capacity, anchor bolt placement, and tolerances meet project requirements.
• Manage construction of substation buildings and structures such as control rooms, relay rooms, GIS buildings where applicable, security buildings, guard houses, cable cellars, and trenches.
• Verify that all buildings comply with structural and architectural standards.
• Supervise cable trenches, cable ducts, and cable vaults, including correct routing and spacing for electrical cables.
• Coordinate trench-related work closely with electrical installation teams.
• Oversee drainage and stormwater systems, including transformer oil containment pits, stormwater drains, and water collection arrangements.
• Confirm appropriate slopes and water diversion away from equipment areas.
• Handle roads, pavements, access routes for heavy transport, boundary walls, security fencing, gates, and site entrances.
• Support civil works connected to the substation grounding grid, including trenching and backfilling for earthing conductors.
• Coordinate the delivery and use of construction materials such as concrete, reinforcement steel, structural steel, and precast elements.
• Manage manpower, equipment, and subcontractors on site.
• Supervise testing and inspection activities, including concrete slump tests, cube strength tests, soil compaction tests, and reinforcement checks before concreting.
• Monitor daily work progress, prepare weekly and monthly reports, identify delays, and implement corrective actions.
• Work closely with project managers, consultants, and clients throughout execution.
