Job description
Job Purpose
The Compliance Specialist will undertake a variety of administrative, compliance, and research tasks to aid Khalifa University in achieving its objectives. This role involves supporting the department with standards, thorough needs assessments, and policies, as well as developing and implementing a monitoring program and suggesting improvements.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist in the creation, implementation, and administration of a university-wide monitoring program to ensure adherence to local laws and requirements across all campuses and departments.
- Aid in the deployment of a compliance monitoring tool designed to help campuses, departments, and employees evaluate compliance risks.
- Organize and oversee monitoring visits to campuses and departments.
- Implement and manage technology-based training to meet the needs of campus, department, and program directors, ensuring a solid understanding of regulations and compliance elements.
- Establish and maintain compliance functions and procedures.
- Support department staff in conducting comprehensive needs assessments, developing improvement plans, and evaluating programs.
- Maintain current knowledge of regulations concerning student attendance, including state law, board policy, and administrative regulations.
- Generate reports on project completion, detailing the outcomes of performed work.
- Foster positive working relationships with department personnel, clients, governmental entities, external auditors/monitors, and other stakeholders.
- Stay informed about federal and local laws, policies, regulations, exhibits, and guidelines pertinent to the relevant programs.
- Uphold the confidentiality of work and its results.
- Collaborate with applicable departments to revise necessary policies and procedures.
- Conduct periodic compliance reviews as needed.
- Perform operational, investigative, compliance, and program audits.
- Develop and deliver training programs, or monitor existing ones.
- Manage, track, and respond to inquiries related to compliance program activities.
- Assist in rectifying compliance issues by providing recommendations in compliance reports and Corrective Action Plans.
- Act as a subject matter expert on compliance and auditing matters.
- Maintain records pertaining to the Compliance Program.
- Deliver excellent customer service to students, employees, parents, the community, and all other stakeholders.
- Comply with the University's information security and confidentiality policies and procedures, reporting any breaches or security risks.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure the effective accomplishment of tasks and responsibilities.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
- Undertake any other duties assigned by the Line Manager.
Qualifications & Experience
A Bachelor’s Degree in Business or a related field is required, along with a minimum of 4 years of relevant professional experience.
