With around 35 employees in Geelong, the company supports a wide customer base across retail, hunting, sports shooting, and defence, supplying reliable equipment to professionals and enthusiasts.
What the role involves
- Building and managing compliance frameworks for importing, exporting, and reselling products such as ammunition, firearms, and associated parts, while meeting ITAR obligations and U.S. as well as international export control rules.
- Offering practical advice and specialist support on trade compliance issues.
- Helping shape the compliance manual by creating, rolling out, maintaining, and continuously improving policies and procedures for import and export controls.
- Designing and leading a compulsory training program covering topics such as Australian export controls, the Defence and Strategic Goods List (DSGL), and Defence Export Controls (DEC).
- Reviewing and approving submissions for DEC applications.
- Carrying out internal audits to check compliance standards.
- Overseeing compliance activities related to the WAL Australian Trusted Trader program.
About you
The ideal candidate will bring experience in trade compliance, international trade controls, or international contracts management, preferably gained in defence-related or dangerous goods import/export environments. A solid grasp of U.S. and global export regulations is also important.
