Job description
Role overview
This position focuses on keeping the business aligned with regulatory obligations while coordinating government relations and day-to-day compliance across all assigned locations. It combines hands-on compliance management with proactive engagement across government and regulatory stakeholders.
Core responsibilities
The role is accountable for building and sustaining the site compliance framework, covering licensing, permits, and regulatory records. It also involves regular audits, identifying compliance gaps, and making sure renewals for licenses and permits are completed on time. The manager will maintain trackers, registers, and dashboards to keep compliance information organized and visible.
On the government relations side, the role requires developing and nurturing relationships with relevant government departments, regulators, and enforcement bodies. It also includes tracking legal and regulatory updates, advising leadership on likely operational impact, and supporting branch managers when dealing with site-level regulatory matters. A further part of the job is shaping government engagement plans that support business goals.
Cross-functional work is another key part of the role. The manager will partner with Legal, Operations, and Engineering teams to ensure compliance and government relations coverage is embedded into new site launches, expansions, and operational changes. The role also requires maintaining strong documentation practices for all regulatory communications and reporting compliance and GRO updates to senior leaders on a recurring basis.
Qualifications and experience
Applicants should bring at least 3 years of program or project management experience, plus 3 years of experience working across both technical and non-technical teams. The role also calls for 3 years of experience driving process improvements using data and metrics. A bachelor's degree is required, along with advanced Excel skills, including PivotTables and VLOOKUPs, and working knowledge of SQL.
Preferred strengths include 3 years of experience delivering projects end to end and presenting outcomes to senior leadership, strong stakeholder management across multiple levels of the organization, and experience creating processes, managing projects, and building schedules.
