Job description
About the role
Hitachi Energy is looking for a Compensation Specialist to join the Compensation & Benefits function in Mannheim. The position sits within a team that helps the business attract and keep talent in a competitive market by ensuring compensation practices are externally competitive, internally fair, and aligned with compliance and risk expectations.
In this role, you will support the continued development of the company’s global compensation framework. Your work will contribute to grading activities, annual salary reviews, salary range design, and external market benchmarking. The role involves structured analysis, careful data handling, and day-to-day assistance across compensation processes.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out job matching and grading tasks using the defined framework.
- Prepare supporting documentation and help with grading reviews.
- Check data quality and perform basic analytical reviews.
- Support reporting activities and dashboard preparation.
- Assist with job evaluations, audits, and process documentation.
- Respond to basic grading-related questions from HR partners and other stakeholders.
- Support the annual salary review cycle in Workday, including planning, setup, execution, and follow-up analysis.
- Help maintain and develop salary ranges.
- Coordinate submissions of compensation information to external benchmarking providers.
- Review market data and compensation trends to support strategy and decision-making.
Profile and experience
The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, Finance, or a closely related discipline. You should bring 2 to 5 years of experience in HR, ideally in Total Rewards or Compensation & Benefits.
Strong Excel capability is important, and experience with Workday would be an advantage. You should be detail-focused, accurate with data, comfortable working in a structured and process-driven way, and able to think analytically. Good collaboration and communication skills are also essential.
An interest in using AI and automation tools within HR processes is valued, and exposure to reporting or analytics tools would be a plus.
Benefits and workplace support
The organization offers a benefits package that varies by country of employment, with a general emphasis on supporting employee well-being and long-term value. Typical elements include competitive pay and incentives, well-being and care support, paid and unpaid leave, flexible work arrangements, and benefits that help strengthen financial security.
More detailed information about the package will be shared during the hiring process.
