Where you'll work
Job description
About the Role
Enviro NZ is carrying out meaningful sustainability work across Aotearoa, but many of the important stories behind that work go untold. This position is focused on finding those stories and turning them into clear, engaging communications that inform audiences and build interest.
As a Communications Specialist, you will create content that explains complex ideas in a simple way and helps share the impact of the company’s work across environmental services, including resource recovery, recycling, infrastructure, innovation, and community partnerships.
What You’ll Do
- Identify compelling stories from across the organisation and develop them into content for both internal and external audiences.
- Plan, write, and produce material for a range of channels such as intranet articles, newsletters, social media, media releases, and video.
- Assist with communications campaigns and projects that support business priorities.
- Maintain content schedules, coordinate with contributors, and help ensure delivery happens on time.
- Monitor engagement, learn what content connects best with audiences, and use that insight to improve future communications.
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate is a curious and proactive communicator who enjoys spending time across the business, building relationships, and creating content people want to read, watch, and share. You should be comfortable working in a busy environment with competing priorities and have the confidence to use modern communication tools, including AI-enabled platforms, to work more efficiently.
Strong writing and editing ability is important, along with experience producing digital content such as video and social media posts. Prior experience in communications, media, public relations, or a content-based role will be valuable.
Why Join Enviro NZ
You’ll have the opportunity to work with teams across the business and uncover stories that genuinely matter. The role offers a collaborative communications environment where your ideas will be welcomed, and you’ll be able to explore new formats, tools, and approaches, including video, digital media, and AI.
Your work will help shape how employees, customers, and wider audiences understand Enviro NZ and the positive impact it creates every day.
Application Note
Applicants are asked to provide a CV and a cover letter.
