Commis Chef

Role overview

This part-time, on-site Commis Chef position in Dublin supports the kitchen team in getting food prepared, cooked, and served to a consistently high standard. The role works alongside senior chefs and other commis chefs to keep service running smoothly and to maintain a clean, safe, and well-organised kitchen environment.

Key duties

• Report to work in the correct uniform, neatly groomed, and ready at the scheduled time.
• Prepare and cook dishes for the assigned section in line with the agreed quality standards, collaborating with the rest of the kitchen team.
• Keep worktops, tables, fridges, and other area-specific surfaces clean throughout the shift.
• Follow all hygiene rules relating to clothing, personal cleanliness, and kitchen operations.
• Make sure all mise en place is completed before service begins.
• Inform the chef or supervisor immediately about any defects in equipment, fixtures, or fittings, and avoid improper use of any kitchen equipment.
• Complete cleaning tasks according to the assigned cleaning schedules.
• Observe company policies and procedures covering fire safety, health and safety, hygiene, food hygiene, customer care, and security.
• Join training sessions and meetings whenever required.
• Prepare and serve staff meals that are varied, nutritious, and aligned with the agreed standard.
• Read, understand, and follow the responsibilities outlined in the Health and Safety Statement and staff handbook.
• Take on other reasonable tasks requested by management when needed.
• Carry out HACCP-related duties to the best of your ability.
