Job description

About the company

Silentium Defence develops passive radar and sensing technologies designed to safeguard critical assets and interests. As the organisation grows, it is seeking a Commercial Support Officer to help strengthen contract administration and supplier management across the business.

Role overview

This is a practical, high-impact position at the centre of commercial operations. You will support the delivery of projects, products, and services by helping manage contracts and supplier agreements effectively, with a strong emphasis on value, risk control, and process discipline. The role reports to the Commercial Manager and involves close coordination with internal stakeholders.

The company is open to appointing the position on either a full-time or part-time basis, depending on the right candidate.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist with the full lifecycle of commercial contract activities, including sourcing, tendering, and administrative coordination.
  • Help prepare, review, and administer straightforward to moderately simple contracts such as NDAs, Contract Change Proposals, stakeholder contractual terms, and purchase orders with customers, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Keep commercial records, documents, and reports accurate, organised, and up to date.
  • Track supplier delivery and performance against agreed obligations and KPIs.
  • Support the identification, evaluation, and reduction of contract-related risks.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to achieve commercial objectives.
  • Make sure commercial tasks are carried out in line with company policies, standards, and applicable regulatory obligations.

What we’re looking for

You should be highly organised, comfortable managing several priorities in a structured setting, and able to take responsibility for your work. Strong communication skills and a genuine interest in developing commercial and contract management capability are important for success in this role.

Preferred background

Experience in administration, contract coordination, or commercial support will be valuable. Exposure to defence, government, or other regulated environments, along with familiarity with the contract management lifecycle, would be an advantage. A qualification in Business, Law, Finance, or a related discipline may also be relevant.

Eligibility

Because the work relates to the Defence sector, applicants must be Australian citizens and able to obtain and maintain the required defence security clearance. Only candidates who meet these mandatory conditions will be considered.
