Job description

Company overview

Avestack is developing a platform that serves as the operating backbone for agriculture in Africa. It brings together farmers, purchasers, agronomists, investors, logistics partners, and agribusinesses in one place, with tools for marketplace activity, payments, and agricultural intelligence. The goal is to make the agricultural value chain more open and efficient while improving access to markets, capital, and actionable data. The company is launching in Nigeria first and plans to expand across the continent, with a mission to create meaningful impact at scale.

Role overview

As Co-Founder and CFO, you will help shape Avestack's financial direction as the company grows across Africa. Working closely with the founder, you will contribute to long-term strategy, support fundraising, manage investor relationships, and build the financial foundation needed for sustainable expansion.

What you will do

  • Define and drive the company’s financial strategy alongside the founder.
  • Lead fundraising preparation, investor conversations, and capital-raising efforts.
  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with current and prospective investors.
  • Create financial models, forecasts, revenue plans, and capital allocation structures.
  • Prepare investor-facing materials and present the business case clearly and confidently.
  • Assess partnership opportunities and their financial impact.
  • Support financial planning and analysis to guide commercial and strategic decisions.
  • Help put in place the systems and processes needed for a fast-scaling business.
  • Contribute to the broader business strategy as a hands-on leadership partner.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience or strong capability in fundraising, startup finance, venture capital, investment banking, corporate finance, private equity, or a closely related area.
  • Advanced ability in financial modeling, forecasting, and analytical problem-solving.
  • Solid grasp of startup unit economics, capital raising, and growth planning.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills, especially when speaking with investors and partners.
  • Ability to turn complex financial data into practical business recommendations.
  • Comfort working in uncertainty and building frameworks from scratch.
  • Strong interest in agriculture, fintech, marketplaces, or technology-led businesses.
  • Ability to thrive in a remote, high-velocity startup environment.
  • A background in business, economics, engineering, agriculture, or a related discipline is beneficial, though equivalent hands-on experience is also valued.

This is a high-ownership, hands-on leadership role for someone who wants to help build a category-defining company from the ground up.
