Role Overview
This is a full-time, on-site Clinical Placement Co-ordinator position in Cork. The role focuses on organizing and overseeing clinical placements for students and trainees while working closely with clinical managers, educators, and academic partners. You will be responsible for assigning placements, keeping records accurate, and making sure all placements align with educational and regulatory standards. You will also act as a primary point of contact for learners and supervisors, deliver orientation and ongoing support, and address placement issues quickly and effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate, schedule, and manage clinical placement assignments for students and trainees.
- Partner with clinical managers, educators, and academic institutions to ensure placements run smoothly.
- Maintain complete and accurate placement records and documentation.
- Make sure all placements comply with educational requirements, regulatory expectations, and hospital policies.
- Serve as a key contact for learners and supervisors throughout the placement period.
- Provide orientation, guidance, and practical support to students and trainees.
- Resolve placement-related concerns promptly and professionally.
- Monitor learner feedback and use it to support service improvement.
- Contribute to quality improvement work and prepare reports as needed.
- Support adherence to professional standards, confidentiality, and patient-care expectations.
Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate will have a background in nursing, allied health, healthcare education, or another related clinical area, along with professional registration where applicable. Prior experience in clinical education, student coordination, or placement management in a hospital or healthcare environment is expected. Strong planning, organization, and time-management abilities are essential, especially when handling multiple placements and deadlines. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills are needed to work effectively with students, clinical teams, and academic partners. Comfort with IT systems for scheduling, data entry, and reporting is important, and experience with healthcare or education management platforms would be an advantage. A clear commitment to patient care, learner experience, confidentiality, and ethical practice is required. The role also calls for someone who can work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, with a proactive, practical approach to problem-solving. A third-level qualification in healthcare, education, or management is desirable, and additional training in clinical education or coordination would be beneficial.
