Role Summary

This full-time, on-site position in Nairobi is for a Clinical Officer who will deliver hands-on patient care in line with WHO protocols and national clinical guidelines. The role covers patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up, along with support for clinical decision-making and coordination with doctors and other healthcare professionals.

Key Duties

  • Provide direct clinical care, including evaluating patients, identifying conditions, prescribing treatment within scope, and arranging follow-up.
  • Assist with minor procedures or small surgical interventions when appropriate and permitted by local regulations.
  • Work closely with physicians and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate patient care.
  • Record consultations and maintain clear, accurate medical documentation.
  • Contribute to quality assurance efforts and infection prevention practices.
  • Support training, mentoring, and capacity-building for healthcare workers.
  • Take part in public health activities, outreach efforts, and data collection for monitoring and evaluation when required.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Strong clinical background in medicine and patient care, with the ability to assess, diagnose, and manage common conditions.
  • Experience collaborating with doctors and other healthcare professionals in team-based settings.
  • Capability to perform minor surgical or procedural tasks within the approved scope of practice.
  • Ability to coach, mentor, and provide on-the-job support to clinical and support staff.
  • Valid Clinical Officer qualification and current registration/licensing with the applicable national regulatory authority.
  • Sound understanding of public health principles, WHO guidance, and national health policy frameworks.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, along with strong documentation and interpersonal abilities.
  • Comfort working in multicultural and multidisciplinary environments.
  • Fluency in English; knowledge of additional local or regional languages is considered an advantage.
  • Prior experience in humanitarian, low-resource, or public health settings is preferred.

This is a permanent full-time onsite role based in Nairobi, Nairobi County, Kenya.
