Job description

Role overview

KIMS Hospital in Maidstone is seeking a process-oriented Imaging Administrator to support its Radiology team. The position is permanent and pays £25,600 per year. The post is for 40 hours each week, with working days running Monday to Friday and shifts scheduled between 08:00 and 20:00. Typical shift patterns are 08:00–16:00, 10:00–18:00, and 12:00–20:00.

The role is suited to an organised administrator who can manage priorities effectively, work well with patients, and communicate confidently with a range of stakeholders in person, by phone, and by email.

Key duties

  • Coordinate the daily booking of radiology appointments and make full use of available clinic sessions.
  • Handle telephone and email-based administration tasks promptly, accurately, and professionally.
  • Keep an eye on the NHS mailbox for urgent referrals and act on them appropriately.
  • Greet patients, visitors, consultants, and staff in the Radiology department, confirm patient details, and direct people to other hospital areas when needed.
  • Scan referrals and supporting documents onto PAS in a timely manner.

Essential criteria

Candidates should have a solid general education, including grade 4 or equivalent in English and Maths. Previous experience in a similar customer-facing administrative role is required, along with strong IT skills, especially in Word and Excel. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational abilities are also essential.

Desirable background

It would be an advantage to have knowledge of medical terminology, experience working in hospital administration, and familiarity with radiology booking and patient information systems such as RIS/PAS.

Benefits

The hospital offers a competitive salary along with a package designed to support wellbeing and work-life balance. Benefits include 33 days of annual leave plus extra time off for your birthday, free secure staff parking, a pension scheme, private health insurance, life assurance, up to 40% off selected KIMS services, an employee assistance platform, retail discounts and cashback, discounted gym membership, annual flu vaccination, and a free eye test.

Additional information

KIMS Hospital says it is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace and aims to reflect the communities it serves. The organisation describes itself as an equal opportunities employer and a disability confident employer.
