Role Overview

NeuLife Rehabilitation, Inc. is hiring a Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) to guide the company’s people strategy across several states and service lines. This is a senior executive position that partners closely with the CEO and leadership team to support growth, compliance, workforce planning, employee engagement, and the integration of acquired businesses.

The organization is looking for a seasoned HR executive with strong experience in mergers and acquisitions, multi-state employment regulations, organizational development, and leadership of high-performing teams in a fast-moving environment.

Location: Remote
Travel: 25%–50% for multi-state operations
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Status: Full-time, exempt

What the Role Covers

The CHRO will oversee both strategic and day-to-day human resources leadership, including recruiting, employee relations, compensation and benefits, compliance, payroll oversight, HR systems, leadership development, performance management, workforce planning, and broader organizational effectiveness.

This position is central to supporting expansion plans, integrating newly acquired organizations, maintaining regulatory compliance, and strengthening a culture built on accountability, engagement, and performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with the CEO and executive team to shape and carry out the organization’s people strategy.
  • Advise leadership on organizational structure, staffing plans, succession planning, and change management.
  • Align human capital initiatives with business priorities and growth goals.
  • Lead HR due diligence, workforce review, and integration work during mergers and acquisitions.
  • Direct acquisition-related HR activities, including risk review, transition planning, and post-deal integration.
  • Assess structures, compensation programs, benefits, policies, and workforce risks during transactions.
  • Create and implement integration plans that support cultural alignment and operational efficiency.
  • Help scale operations and bring newly acquired entities into the organization.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws across multiple states.
  • Oversee labor law adherence, wage and hour practices, leave administration, investigations, and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop, update, and sustain HR policies, procedures, and employee handbooks.
  • Lead employee relations efforts and advise on complex workplace issues.
  • Ensure personnel records, credentialing, and HR audit readiness are maintained properly.
  • Build recruiting strategies to attract talent for clinical, operational, and leadership roles.
  • Set workforce planning initiatives that support growth and expansion.
  • Create retention and engagement programs to improve workforce stability.
  • Oversee onboarding and employee development efforts.
  • Design leadership development and succession planning programs.
  • Lead compensation strategy, market benchmarking, and pay structure design.
  • Negotiate and manage benefits programs to keep offerings competitive and cost-effective.
  • Partner with brokers and vendors to review and improve benefits offerings.
  • Oversee annual benefits renewals and cost containment efforts.
  • Provide executive oversight of HRIS platforms and HR technology projects.
  • Maintain data accuracy, reporting quality, and process efficiency.
  • Oversee payroll administration and related compliance requirements.
  • Develop HR dashboards, metrics, and workforce analytics.
  • Track KPIs tied to hiring, retention, engagement, turnover, compliance, and productivity.
  • Deliver executive-level reports and workforce insights for strategic decisions.
  • Use analytics to identify trends, opportunities, and organizational risks.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field.
  • At least 10 years of progressive HR leadership experience.
  • At least 5 years in a senior HR executive position.
  • Proven experience leading HR in a multi-state environment.
  • Direct mergers and acquisitions experience, including due diligence and post-acquisition integration.
  • Strong understanding of federal and state employment law, wage and hour rules, leave laws, and HR compliance.
  • Background managing talent acquisition, compensation, benefits, employee relations, and HR operations.
  • Experience overseeing HRIS platforms and payroll functions.
  • Strong analytical, financial, and business judgment.
  • Ability to travel between 25% and 50%.

Preferred Background

  • Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience in healthcare, behavioral health, rehabilitation, or a multi-site service organization.
  • Senior HR certification such as SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or an equivalent credential.
  • Experience supporting fast-growing organizations and acquisition-led expansion.
