Role overview
IIT Patna’s Vishlesan I-Hub is inviting applications for a Chanakya Faculty Fellowship at IIT Patna, Bihar. The program is designed for researchers and faculty-oriented professionals who want to contribute to technology development in speech, video, and text analytics, with applications across interdisciplinary cyber-physical systems (ICPS).
About the initiative
Vishlesan I-Hub Foundation is a not-for-profit initiative supported by the Government of India through the Department of Science & Technology (DST) and IIT Patna. The hub focuses on advancing scientific methods and technologies in speech, video, and text analytics, with an emphasis on innovation that can support areas such as healthcare, smart cities, Industry 4.0, drones, robotics, defense, security, and other intelligent devices related to ICPS.
Work focus
The fellowship is centered on building new technologies, developing prototypes from existing concepts, teaching postgraduate-level courses, and guiding startups currently under progress.

- Teach postgraduate courses.
- Mentor ongoing startups.

Eligibility and qualifications
- A Ph.D. in Electrical, Electronic, or Computer Sciences with specialization in speech, video, text analytics, or closely related areas is required.
- At least one year of post-Ph.D. industrial or applied research experience is strongly preferred.
Compensation and support
The fellowship offers a monthly amount of Rs 125,000 initially for 2 years. The engagement may be extended further depending on the progress, quality, and duration of the project.
In addition, the hub provides access to funds, services, resources, and facilities that can help convert promising ideas, innovations, and technologies into products, with support from IIT Patna and its institutional and industrial partners.
Successful fellows and mentors who show meaningful progress may also be encouraged to apply for further funding under other TIH schemes. Incubation support may be available through Vishlesan I-Hub and its partner I-Hubs across India.
Selection process
Shortlisting and final selection will be based on an interview call, with evaluation focused on technical merit, originality, and the feasibility of the proposal.
Application requirements
Applicants must submit a detailed CV that includes age, educational background, research experience, and a complete list of publications and patents. They must also provide a vision statement and a proposal explaining why their background fits the role and outlining their work plan.
