Job description

Role Overview

This position suits someone who enjoys cooking, values food quality, and wants their work to positively influence children’s nutrition and mealtime experience.

What You’ll Do

  • Prepare meals that meet the needs of children with allergies and specific dietary needs, helping keep them safe at mealtimes.
  • Work with the Centre Director to design menus and arrange food orders, using both creativity and strong planning skills.
  • Keep food storage, handling, preparation, and service areas clean and hygienic so food safety standards remain high.

About the Centre

  • The centre includes team members who speak German, Bengali, Dzongkha (Bhutanese), Cantonese, Mandarin, Nepali, Portuguese, Filipino (Tagalog), Urdu (Pakistani), Korean, and Hindi, offering language support to families.
  • Community involvement is central to the centre’s approach, with local outings, cultural celebrations, and shared events helping build meaningful connections for children and families.
  • The centre is rated Exceeding, with a warm and supportive setting where play, curiosity, and diversity are encouraged as part of early learning.

What’s on Offer

  • Pay is competitive and starts at least 5% above the award rate.
  • You’ll receive a 50% reduction on childcare gap fees.
  • Up to 6 weeks of paid parental leave is available.
  • Fitness Passport access provides discounted gym and pool memberships for you and your family.
  • Professional learning and development is paid for.
  • Two wellbeing days are included in personal leave each year.
  • A free annual flu vaccination is available if you choose to take it.
  • You can buy additional leave to create more flexibility and balance.
  • First Nations Support and Cultural Leave is included.
  • Retail savings are available across insurance, travel, and technology.
  • A uniform allowance and employee referral program are also provided.

What You Need

  • A Certificate III in Commercial Cookery, or relevant cooking experience in a childcare environment.
  • A current ACT Working with Children Check.
