Role Summary

The Cemetery Groundskeeper plays a key role in maintaining the cemetery grounds, supporting funeral services, and helping keep the property safe, orderly, and welcoming for employees and visitors. This position calls for someone who is dependable, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering high-quality service.

Key Duties

  • Carry out routine landscape care, including mowing, weed-whacking, and related outdoor upkeep.
  • Keep tools and equipment in proper working condition.
  • Assist with activities connected to funeral services.
  • Use machinery carefully and in accordance with safety practices.
  • Help install cemetery vaults when required.
  • Install headstones or memorials as needed.
  • Perform general daily maintenance tasks around the property.
  • Manage snow removal duties when weather conditions require it.
  • Take on additional responsibilities assigned by the Grounds Superintendent.

Requirements

  • High school equivalency is required.
  • At least 2 years of experience in maintenance or a similar field.
  • Ability to operate maintenance equipment and machinery.
  • Capacity to read and follow memos and instructions from supervisors or management.
  • Strong organization skills and the ability to juggle multiple tasks with frequent interruptions.
  • Good customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 80 lbs.
  • Valid state driver’s license required.
  • Must be available to work some holidays, evenings, and weekends as needed.

Salary

The pay range for this role is $17.00 to $18.00 per hour.
