Role overview
Party City is looking for a highly driven Merchant, Sourcing & Growth Manager to own assortment strategy, sourcing efforts, inventory planning, and Amazon marketing. The role sits in a fast-moving, growth-focused environment and calls for someone who can connect customer needs, financial outcomes, supplier partnerships, and e-commerce merchandising standards to deliver profitable growth across retail and online channels.
This position demands strong commercial instincts, a highly analytical approach, comfort working to tight deadlines, and the ability to juggle several priorities at once while improving category performance.
Key responsibilities
- Build and roll out category and assortment plans that reflect customer demand, market movement, and business goals.
- Spot product opportunities using competitive intelligence, shopper insights, and sales results.
- Oversee the full product lifecycle, including new launches, seasonal ranges, and item exits.
- Work with cross-functional partners to shape strong product narratives and better customer experiences.
- Coordinate with sourcing teams to bring in new suppliers that support growth, margin targets, and innovation.
- Collaborate with vendors on product design, packaging, quality enhancements, and cost-saving initiatives.
- Create sales forecasts, inventory plans, and replenishment approaches that support revenue and margin objectives.
- Review sales, stock, and profitability data to improve assortment productivity.
- Partner with supply chain and operations teams to keep products available on time.
- Identify risks and opportunities through continuous business review and recommend actions to correct course.
- Improve e-commerce content, taxonomy, search performance, product placement, and promotional execution.
- Study site performance and shopper behavior to enhance the online buying journey.
- Work with digital marketing teams to support campaigns, product launches, and seasonal moments.
- Ensure listings are accurate, persuasive, and consistent with brand standards.
- Own category financial results, including sales, margin, inventory turns, and GMROI.
- Prepare and present business reviews, forecasts, and strategic recommendations for leadership.
- Use data and insights to guide decisions and uncover growth opportunities.
- Track competitor moves and emerging market trends.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Merchandising, Marketing, Supply Chain, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in merchandising, sourcing, planning, buying, category management, or e-commerce merchandising.
- Strong analytical capability with a track record of using data to inform business decisions.
- Hands-on experience with inventory planning, forecasting, and assortment optimization.
- Solid understanding of e-commerce merchandising principles and digital shopper behavior.
- Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with business analytics tools.
- Clear communication, strong presentation ability, and effective cross-functional collaboration.
- Background in retail, wholesale, consumer products, party goods, seasonal merchandise, or similar categories.
- Experience managing private-label or exclusive product development.
- Knowledge of international sourcing and supply chain processes.
Compensation and benefits
The remote role carries a salary range of $105,000 to $120,000 per year.
