Role Summary

The Careers & Alumni Officer supports learners in planning and progressing their careers while also providing continued guidance to alumni. The position combines career support, alumni engagement, job and university-related assistance, resource sharing, event delivery, and coordination across school systems and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and sustain meaningful connections with alumni so they can continue to receive career guidance and access networking opportunities.
  • Create and manage partnerships with employers and organisations to open up placement and progression opportunities for students and alumni.
  • Select, organise, and share educational and career resources and opportunities.
  • Prepare reports that help support university applications and track university destinations and outcomes.
  • Assist with planning and delivering high-profile careers and university events in the school and in the wider community.
  • Manage information quality and system settings across key EdTech platforms, including smooth coordination between iSAMS and university application tools.
  • Work closely with marketing, IT, and academic teams to support event delivery and ensure data is accurate.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in counselling, career development, psychology, or a similar discipline.
  • Proven ability to form and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues, learners, parents, university representatives, and other guidance professionals.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional learning and development relevant to the role.
  • Experience collecting, organising, and interpreting data.
  • Experience supporting learners and adults from varied backgrounds and with diverse needs.
  • Previous use of a school management information system such as iSAMS.
  • Experience working in an international school setting.
  • Strong commitment to learner wellbeing and a genuine interest in working with young people.
  • Ability to stay calm under pressure and focus on practical solutions.
  • Motivated, high-performing, and comfortable working to high standards.
  • Willingness to take initiative and learn quickly.
  • Resilient, adaptable, flexible, and considerate of others’ needs.
  • Clear spoken and written communication in Standard English.
  • Good listening skills and strong interpersonal ability.
  • Positive presence, including a sense of humour and the ability to influence others constructively.
  • Professional presentation and conduct that sets a strong example.
