Role overview
Ellab Ireland is hiring a Calibration Technician to join its Field Service team. The position is based out of Whitegate, Co. Cavan and involves nationwide travel, supporting clients across the pharmaceutical and biotech sectors as well as related contractors and manufacturers. A full driving licence is required because the role is largely on the road.
Ellab provides end-to-end compliance solutions, including validation, calibration, monitoring, temperature mapping, and instrumentation products. In Ireland, the business operates from Cavan and Cork, supports more than 250 clients, and works with some of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies.
Key duties
- Perform calibration activities according to the site timetable and local procedures.
- Handle both planned and unplanned work orders when required and aligned to site processes.
- Identify and resolve instrumentation issues under guidance from site supervisors.
- Complete risk assessments for calibration steps and keep them current.
- Record calibration certificates in the site Computerized Calibration Management System where applicable, as directed by the Site Instrumentation Manager.
- Keep all records well organised and controlled in line with GMP and FDA expectations.
- Work alongside operations teams to support calibration tasks.
- Carry out calibrations safely and within required timeframes.
- Perform corrective and reactive maintenance on instrumentation as requested.
- Contribute to ongoing improvement initiatives and help strengthen quality and customer service.
- Log completed work using the site reporting tools.
- Be available to complete any training required by the site.
- Update the PM schedule as needed.
- Maintain and refresh the site database as required.
- Plan and prioritise workload so assigned tasks are finished accurately and on time.
Candidate profile
The preferred applicant will hold a National Craft Certificate in Instrumentation, or an equivalent third-level qualification. A strong understanding of calibration systems and automation/control systems is important, along with strong computer literacy in Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and related applications.
Ellab is also looking for someone with excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills, plus strong organisation and time management abilities. The role suits a person who can work well on their own and as part of a team, while maintaining a customer-focused approach.
