Job description

Role Overview

The CAD Drafter supports the creation, upkeep, and consistency of 2D and 3D engineering drawings used for chiller product development, manufacturing, and customer approval. This position focuses mainly on air-cooled and water-cooled chillers and works closely with project leaders, project engineers, product development engineers, production, and supply chain teams. The goal is to deliver accurate, timely, and standardized drawings across the product lifecycle and factory order process, while converting engineering requirements into clear drawings that can be manufactured and approved by customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create, revise, and maintain standardized drawing packages for air-cooled chiller products, including general arrangement drawings, P&ID drawings, 2D manufacturing drawings, and 3D models.
  • Assist product development efforts by building and adjusting 3D models for new designs and product improvements, and by incorporating design updates, engineering comments, and test results into drawing revisions.
  • Prepare and update drawings needed for factory orders and release them for production use.
  • Organize and maintain drawing libraries, templates, and standards in line with internal procedures.
  • Partner with project teams to ensure accurate chiller drawings are delivered on schedule for production and customer sign-off.
  • Help improve drawing standards, model databases, and standard part libraries.
  • Make sure drawings align with manufacturing methods, tolerances, and assembly needs.
  • Take part in cross-functional design reviews and support design-for-manufacturing improvements.
  • Respond promptly to design changes, drawing updates, and technical questions.

Requirements

  • 1 to 2 years of experience in CAD drafting or a similar technical role.
  • Strong working knowledge of SolidWorks for 2D drafting and 3D modeling.
  • Ability to interpret engineering, manufacturing, and assembly drawings.
  • Understanding of chiller design standards and project execution workflows.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills for collaborating with international teams, including DBC and DBM.
  • Strong attention to detail, especially in dimensioning, tolerancing, and revision tracking.
  • Experience with drawing revision control and document management practices.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD for 2D layouts and legacy drawings.
  • Familiarity with HVAC drawing conventions, symbols, and standard practices.
  • Awareness of manufacturing drawings, shop-floor practices, and fabrication methods.
