  • Prepare fabrication packages, including cut lists, BOMs, and other production-ready documents.
  • Set up and improve drawing standards, templates, naming rules, and basic revision practices.
  • Maintain organized drawing libraries, model repositories, and documentation records.
  • Turn sketches, customer inputs, and verbal directions into clear manufacturing drawings.
  • Support design-for-manufacturing decisions by working closely with production staff and supervisors.
  • Revise drawings based on feedback from the shop floor and production changes.
  • Create CNC-ready files for processes such as laser cutting, plasma cutting, bending, and related operations as needed.
  • Coordinate with supervisors, welders, and fabricators to confirm accuracy and manufacturability.
  • Assist with prototype builds and help solve technical issues that come up during fabrication.
  • Look for ways to improve drawing clarity, reduce mistakes, and make production easier.

Requirements

  • 2 to 3 years of SolidWorks experience in a manufacturing or metal fabrication setting.
  • Solid knowledge of weldments, sheet metal, assemblies, and fabrication detailing.
  • Familiarity with fabrication methods such as welding, bending, cutting, and machining.
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and disciplined documentation habits.
  • Ability to communicate in English or Spanish; bilingual ability is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office.
  • Experience with PDM systems is an advantage.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, especially when working with production teams.
  • Ability to manage several drawings or projects in a changing environment.
  • Problem-solving approach with a practical focus on manufacturability.
  • Willingness to help build and improve CAD workflows, standards, and drawing libraries.
  • Flexibility to work in a process environment that is still being developed.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Experience in mechanical drafting or design in manufacturing is preferred.
  • Technical training and/or relevant fabrication experience is preferred if you do not hold an engineering degree; an engineering degree is not required.
