About the role
This part-time Business Operations Manager position is designed for a highly organized operator who can support the CEO as a strategic partner while also handling day-to-day execution. The role focuses on aligning teams, improving efficiency, driving priorities forward, and strengthening decision-making across the business. It is intended for someone comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-growth setting for about 20 hours per week.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operational activity and keep execution aligned with company objectives, KPIs, and service expectations.
- Review existing workflows, procedures, and systems, then simplify and improve them to remove bottlenecks and raise efficiency.
- Support hiring, coaching, and performance management across operations, customer service, logistics, or production teams.
- Convert business goals into practical operating plans, resource plans, and action roadmaps.
- Handle budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and accountability for the operational P&L.
- Define KPIs, monitor performance, and prepare recurring weekly and monthly reports for leadership.
- Coordinate with vendors and partners, including contract discussions and service-level follow-up.
- Lead operational change initiatives such as process upgrades, new system rollouts, and organizational transitions.
- Make sure operations comply with applicable industry standards, regulations, and internal policies.
- Share concise updates, recommendations, and insights with founders, the CEO, or the board.
Requirements
- 8 to 15+ years of experience in operations, general management, or a closely related leadership role.
- Prior exposure to working across finance, HR, sales, product, and customer success functions.
- Strong analytical ability with confidence in reading data, spotting patterns, and using evidence to guide decisions.
- Working knowledge of ERP and CRM platforms, workflow tools, and automation systems.
- Comfort delivering measurable outcomes in fractional, consulting, part-time, or contract arrangements.
- Proven leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and hold teams accountable.
- Bachelor’s degree is required.
- Master’s degree is required.
Preferred background
- Experience in startups, SaaS businesses, or service-led organizations is preferred.
- Previous success in fractional or consulting-style roles is an advantage.
- Hands-on familiarity with tools such as HubSpot, Asana, Notion, Salesforce, or business intelligence platforms is helpful.
Compensation and working arrangement
This is a part-time onsite role based in Mississauga, Ontario. The schedule is 20 hours per week, typically spread across five half-days. Compensation is $50 to $70 per hour. The role may require availability during core business hours for meetings or urgent issues.
