Job description

Role overview

Fisher & Paykel Healthcare is a New Zealand-founded global medical device company that designs, manufactures, and markets healthcare products used in respiratory care, acute care, and obstructive sleep apnea treatment. The business ships to more than 120 countries and is focused on improving patient care through innovative solutions.

This opportunity sits within the Business Excellence team and is a permanent, full-time position based onsite at the Auckland office in Highbrook, East Tamaki. The role is a 40-hour per week appointment and is suited to someone who wants to contribute to meaningful improvement work in a company with a strong purpose and global reach.

What the role is about

The successful person will work alongside business leaders and cross-functional teams to create value, strengthen capability, and support the organisation’s continuous improvement journey. The position involves engaging with leaders at general management level as well as operators and core manufacturing teams, so strong communication and relationship-building ability is essential.

This role calls for someone who enjoys variety, strategic thinking, and long-term improvement work. It also offers exposure to different functions across the business, within a collaborative and supportive environment where ideas are welcomed and conventional thinking can be challenged.

Key responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary stakeholders in a large organisation.
  • Use problem-solving and strategic thinking to focus on outcomes that matter to the business and its customers.
  • Help build high-performing teams through effective coaching and influence.

Candidate profile

The ideal candidate is energetic, flexible, and able to influence effectively at all levels of the organisation. They should be comfortable working with both senior leaders and operational teams, and be able to bring people along on a continuous improvement journey.

Experience in a large-scale manufacturing and operations environment is important, along with a strong technical foundation and a demonstrated ability to deliver business results through lean and continuous improvement work.

Required experience and strengths

  • 5 to 10 years of experience as a continuous improvement or lean practitioner, with clear business outcomes to show for it.
  • Proven coaching ability and experience developing strong-performing teams.
  • Hands-on background in a large manufacturing and operations environment.
  • Strong communication skills with the confidence to work across multiple functions in a large organisation.
  • Experience in people development and change management.
  • Capability in facilitating training, workshops, and improvement programmes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability with a strategic mindset.
  • Focus on business results and customer value.

Benefits

  • Employee share purchase scheme.
  • Bi-annual profit share.
  • Generous paid parental leave.
  • Life, critical illness, and income protection insurance.
  • Discounted health insurance.
  • Active social clubs and community groups.
  • In-house training programmes delivered with external providers.
  • Purchasing privileges for Fisher & Paykel Healthcare and Panasonic products.
  • School holiday programme subsidy.
  • Banking and insurance discounts.
  • Free onsite parking.
