Role Summary

This is a full-time Business Development Officer position in Harare, with a hybrid setup that combines office-based work and remote work-from-home days. The role focuses on finding and assessing new business prospects, building a healthy sales pipeline, and assisting with proposals, presentations, and client pitches. The successful candidate will research markets and competitors, identify target clients, and help run outreach initiatives aimed at increasing revenue and market reach. The role also involves developing strong relationships with important stakeholders, following up on leads, and supporting negotiations under senior leadership guidance. In addition, the officer will monitor progress against targets, keep CRM and reporting data accurate, and work closely with marketing, finance, and operations teams to deliver solutions on time and effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and assess potential new business opportunities.
  • Build, organize, and manage an active sales pipeline.
  • Assist in preparing proposals, sales pitches, and presentations.
  • Carry out market and competitor research to support opportunity evaluation.
  • Map target clients and help coordinate outreach activities.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Follow up on leads and support deal discussions and negotiation efforts.
  • Track progress against goals and maintain accurate CRM and performance records.
  • Work with marketing, finance, and operations teams to ensure smooth solution delivery.

Requirements

  • Experience in business development, sales, or account management, including generating leads, managing pipelines, and building client relationships.
  • Strong ability in market research, data analysis, and reporting to guide strategic decisions and assess opportunities.
  • Well-developed communication, presentation, and negotiation skills for engaging varied stakeholders and presenting value clearly.
  • Good organization, time management, and attention to follow-through, with the ability to juggle several priorities in a busy environment.
  • Comfortable working in a hybrid arrangement and able to stay self-driven, dependable, and effective with digital collaboration tools.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, or a closely related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience in Harare or the wider Zimbabwean market is beneficial, along with familiarity with local business practices.
  • Competence with common office software such as spreadsheets, presentations, and CRM platforms; experience with sales or pipeline tools is an added advantage.
  • Professional integrity, ethical behavior, and a collaborative approach that respects colleagues and clients from diverse backgrounds.
