Job description
About the Role
We are seeking a Business Development Support professional who can help identify, assess, and respond to government, enterprise, and grant opportunities. The ideal person will bring strong written communication, sound commercial judgment, and an interest in proposal development, opportunity research, and broader business growth work.
You will collaborate closely with leadership to transform technical and business ideas into polished, persuasive, and professional submissions. This position goes beyond writing alone: it also includes reviewing opportunities, judging whether they are worth pursuing, and supporting the overall business development workflow.
What You Will Do
- Create, edit, and format proposals, RFI replies, RFP responses, grant applications, and other business documents.
- Review bid notices, funding calls, and similar opportunities to determine whether they match the company’s capabilities and objectives.
- Assist with go/no-go decisions by evaluating fit, requirements, competitiveness, and likely value.
- Convert technical and commercial ideas into clear, well-structured, and convincing proposal language.
- Research submission rules, evaluation standards, compliance expectations, and background details needed for responses.
- Prepare or support sections such as company profile, technical approach, methodology, prior experience, capabilities, and executive summaries.
- Check final submissions for completeness, consistency, professionalism, and clarity.
- Work with internal team members to collect the information, documents, and inputs required for responses.
- Maintain reusable proposal material, boilerplate content, and supporting reference documents.
- Monitor deadlines, submission requirements, and follow-up actions for active opportunities.
- Contribute to related business development work, including research, partnership support, and pipeline coordination.
Requirements
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading ability.
- Strong command of clear, concise, and professional business writing.
- Well-developed research skills and careful attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret and simplify technical or business information.
- Strong planning and organizational skills, with the ability to manage deadlines.
- Capacity to assess information critically and spot relevant opportunities.
- Willingness to build skills in proposal strategy, business development, and formal submission processes.
- Experience with proposals, RFIs, RFPs, tender responses, or grant writing.
- A background in business, communications, public policy, international development, or a related area.
- Familiarity with government contracting, procurement, or proposal workflows.
- Exposure to AI, data analytics, technology, consulting, or similar sectors.
- Experience supporting business development, research, or opportunity tracking.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 2 to 3 years of prior experience in a business development-related role.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proven ability to execute successful development strategies.
- Focused, driven, and goal-oriented mindset.
Additional Responsibilities
- Identify partnership opportunities.
- Build new relationships that help expand the business.
- Manage and strengthen existing business relationships.
- Apply critical thinking while planning to improve the chances of project success.
