Role overview
The Business Development Director will shape and steer the cluster’s long-term commercial direction, ensuring it stays aligned with the wider goals of the organization. The position is centered on creating sustainable growth through business development strategy, technical pre-qualification planning, competitive tendering, and market expansion, while also supporting both immediate and future revenue objectives.
Key responsibilities
- Create and roll out business development strategies for several sites or business units within the cluster.
- Spot, assess, and convert new business opportunities that widen market reach and revenue.
- Develop strong working relationships with clients, partners, and other important stakeholders.
- Guide, coach, and oversee business development teams operating across multiple locations.
- Work with local teams to design customized solutions and build winning proposals.
- Handle negotiations for contracts, agreements, and partnership arrangements at cluster level.
- Track market shifts, competitor moves, and industry changes to preserve a competitive edge.
- Review sales results, KPI performance, and pipeline data, then introduce corrective measures when needed.
- Draft and deliver reports, forecasts, and strategic progress updates for senior leadership.
- Represent the company at industry gatherings, conferences, and networking events to raise visibility and create leads.
Skills and knowledge
The role calls for strong commercial thinking, the ability to uncover growth opportunities, and the capability to build strategies that support organizational priorities. It also requires solid experience in market research, competitor benchmarking, strategic planning, negotiations, stakeholder management, partnership development, risk awareness, compliance, and regulatory understanding. Clear communication and confident presentations with senior-level audiences are essential. Experience with ERP platforms is needed, and SAP functional knowledge is an added advantage.
Requirements
- A total of at least 12 years of experience in business development or a closely related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in a supervisory or leadership position.
- GCC experience is preferred; having 2 or more years in the GCC is considered an advantage.
- A Master’s degree in Business Administration or an equivalent qualification.
