Job description

About the role

SMEDCO is looking for a driven professional who can help expand enterprise activity, strengthen relationships with stakeholders, and deliver impactful training programmes that support the organisation’s goals.

Business development

  • Spot and act on new commercial and partnership opportunities.
  • Guide MSMEs with practical business planning and expansion approaches.
  • Support new clients through onboarding and advisory services.
  • Create and sustain productive partnerships with important stakeholders.

Training and capacity building

  • Develop and conduct entrepreneurship and technical learning sessions.
  • Assess training needs to tailor programme content appropriately.
  • Arrange training calendars, logistical details, and participant assistance.
  • Review how effective the training activities are.

Programme implementation

  • Assist with rolling out enterprise development initiatives.
  • Handle the coordination of training schedules and related logistics.
  • Observe programme progress and prepare impact updates.

Stakeholder engagement

  • Work with SMEs, partners, and other relevant groups to build stronger collaboration.
  • Market the organisation’s services and development programmes.

Monitoring and reporting

  • Draft reports covering activities, results, and performance.
  • Track outcomes and key performance indicators for programmes.

Key competencies

  • Ability to support business growth and advise clients effectively.
  • Strong facilitation skills for training and programme coordination.
  • Effective communication, relationship-building, and stakeholder management.
  • Good analytical ability, planning discipline, and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications and experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, Economics, or a closely related discipline.
  • Training certification will be considered an added advantage.
  • Between 3 and 5 years of experience in business development, training, enterprise development, or a similar area.
