Job description

Role overview

WorkSafeBC’s Business Engagement Services team is looking for a Business Analyst to support business improvement initiatives. This role centers on process enhancement, business analysis, evaluation, and serving as a bridge between internal clients and the team. It is primarily a business-focused position with only limited involvement in information technology development.

What you’ll contribute

You’ll help clients succeed by delivering practical, client-centered advisory and strategic support. The team works collaboratively with customers and partners and aims to be a leading department for learning, sharing, and continuous improvement.

You’ll also join an analytics delivery group that has been recognized by a senior Microsoft analytics consultant as a leader in Canadian public sector analytics maturity.

Work location

This position follows a hybrid model. You may work remotely and also from WorkSafeBC offices depending on the operational requirements of the role.

Core duties

  • Analyze business issues, identify gaps, and document problems clearly.
  • Review existing processes, spot improvement opportunities, and recommend changes using established methods.
  • Lead projects from start through completion.
  • Maintain the organizational behaviours expected at WorkSafeBC: responsiveness, respect, fairness, collaboration, accountability, and forward thinking.

Skills and work style

  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and coordinate several complex tasks at once in a changing environment.
  • Comfort presenting findings to different audiences, including senior leaders.
  • Capability to work effectively both alone and within a team.
  • Strong judgment and the confidence to make sound recommendations.

Background required

Applicants should have either a master’s degree in business administration, a Project Management Professional (PMP) designation, or a Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) designation. A minimum of three years of recent, relevant experience in business improvement, project management, or management consulting is required. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will also be considered.

Important employment conditions

Before an offer can be finalized, you must agree to a criminal record check and confirm that you are legally allowed to work in Canada.
