About the company

Thomax is a fast-growing SaaS business focused on supply chain technology, supporting millions of parcel movements every year across multiple industries. Founded in Australia, the company now operates through subsidiaries in the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Singapore, and New Zealand, giving you the chance to join a global growth story.

Role overview

Thomax is looking for an Agile Business Analyst to join its Sydney office in Pymble. In this role, you will connect the development team with wider business stakeholders, turning broad business objectives into practical, testable user stories and epics. You will also help keep the product backlog in shape and contribute to continuous improvement across the product lifecycle.

What you will do

  • Act as the link between business stakeholders and the development team.
  • Translate business goals into clear user stories, epics, and other deliverables that can be tested and delivered iteratively.
  • Maintain and refine the product backlog.
  • Support product improvement throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Break down large features into smaller, manageable pieces of work.
  • Write acceptance criteria aligned to product outcomes.
  • Represent product and business needs as a proxy for the Head of Product.
  • Build flow charts and data models to show current and future-state processes.
  • Help ensure alignment with standards such as ISO and privacy obligations.

What the role requires

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, together with at least 2 years of experience in Agile methodologies, or at least 3 years of experience working with the software development lifecycle from a Business Analyst perspective.
  • Previous exposure to Scrum-based ways of working.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to adapt to new technologies, changing environments, and shifting priorities.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills for different audiences.
  • Practical understanding of software development lifecycles, including iterative delivery, documentation, and testing.
  • Strong knowledge of warehousing, distribution, and logistics environments, or a solid understanding of inventory-based business processes.
  • Capability to support developers, QA, and stakeholders by clarifying business needs and system requirements.
  • Ability to understand the expectations of B2B software users.

Preferred experience

  • Experience in software businesses connected to Warehouse Management Systems, e-commerce, EDI, POS, or ERP products.
  • Exposure to Atlassian tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket.
  • Experience with product ideation tools such as ProductBoard, FeatureBase, or Jira Product Discovery.
  • Background working with SaaS products.
  • Familiarity with test management tools such as Zephyr.
  • Working knowledge of web architecture, including APIs, servers, and network setups.
  • Understanding of relational databases such as MySQL, MS-SQL, and PostgreSQL.
  • Awareness of version control concepts and how they support software delivery.
  • Preferred professional certifications in Agile business methodology, such as IIBA-AAC, AgileBA/AgilePM, CSPO/PSPO, or PMI-ACP.

Benefits

  • Up to 6 weeks of annual leave.
  • Fast-track career growth and ongoing learning opportunities.
  • Company bonus or incentive program.
  • Parental leave benefits.
  • Employee referral bonus.
  • Volunteer paid time off so you can contribute beyond work.
  • Access to wellbeing and safety support services, including an Employee Assistance Program.
