Business Analyst - Contract - Melbourne

Role Overview

This contract position is for a Business Analyst focused on data and integration readiness for the Blue Yonder TMS Middle Mile solution in Melbourne. The role is responsible for making sure business data requirements, end-to-end data movement, and integration data structures are well defined, governed, and aligned with enterprise standards as well as Blue Yonder data conventions. It supports readiness across design, testing, and cutover, and serves as a key link between logistics business operations, enterprise data governance, and technical delivery teams.

Business Data and Flow Analysis

• Map and document end-to-end business data flows across middle-mile logistics processes, including shipment creation, execution, status updates, costs, exceptions, and completion.
• Identify and confirm source systems, data creators, data consumers, and the authoritative system of record for middle-mile data.
• Define logical and physical data paths across upstream systems, Blue Yonder TMS, and downstream platforms, including clear ownership and handoffs.
• Ensure business scenarios are properly matched to the related data events and transactions passing through integrations.

Source Data and Readiness

• Review source data structures, availability, and constraints for systems that feed the middle-mile implementation.
• Assist with data profiling by setting business rules, thresholds, and expectations for data quality.
• Spot data gaps, inconsistencies, or quality risks that could affect integration, testing, or cutover, and recommend remediation actions.
• Check assumptions related to timeliness, completeness, and refresh frequency from both business and operational viewpoints.

Enterprise Data Standards and Guardrails

• Create and maintain enterprise-grade data artefacts such as a business data glossary for middle-mile data elements and a data dictionary covering logical and physical attributes, formats, domains, and validation rules.
• Ensure documentation follows customer data guardrails and standards, including naming rules, ownership and stewardship, mandatory or critical fields, and data classification or sensitivity requirements.
• Partner with enterprise data governance teams to keep artefacts consistent with wider organisational standards.

Blue Yonder Data Alignment

• Confirm that business data definitions and flows align with Blue Yonder TMS data models and event structures.
• Interpret Blue Yonder concepts such as shipments, orders, movements, events, and costs correctly within the business data artefacts.
• Help reconcile customer terminology with Blue Yonder canonical structures so that traceability and understanding are clear.
• Review the data elements included in interface payloads to ensure they are suitable and meet Blue Yonder-grade quality expectations.

Testing, Cutover, and Release Readiness

• Contribute to the test strategy and traceability matrix with coverage for critical data scenarios, data-related exceptions and negative cases, and reconciliation or reporting checks.
• Support data readiness reviews for SIT, UAT, and pre-cutover milestones.
• Provide input into release and deployment readiness, especially around cutover data availability, reconciliation methods, and post-go-live validation.

Optional Integration Readiness

• Work with integration and architecture teams to ensure business data needs are reflected accurately in interface specifications, payload schemas, and transformation or validation rules.
• Maintain traceability from business requirements to data definitions, interfaces, and test scenarios.
• Review error handling, retry logic, and exception scenarios from a business data perspective.

Engagement Details

This assignment runs for 6 months with a possible extension.
