Role Overview
This role is for a seasoned Business Analyst who can shape requirements, design processes, and ensure proposed solutions align with business goals across technology-led initiatives. You will partner with business users and technical teams to convert needs into practical requirements and help deliver outcomes in an Agile delivery setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Gather, assess, validate, and document requirements, including BRDs, user stories, use cases, and process maps.
- Run stakeholder workshops to review current processes, uncover pain points, and define the preferred future state.
- Analyze the gaps between existing systems and processes and the planned solution.
- Convert business needs into clear functional and technical specifications.
- Model end-to-end business workflows and customer journeys and connect them to the supporting technology.
- Create PoC and demo scenarios for product and solution evaluation.
- Own and improve the backlog through prioritization, user story writing, and acceptance criteria definition.
- Take part in Agile rituals such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
- Keep the Project Manager informed with regular updates on progress, risks, dependencies, and blockers.
- Spot opportunities to improve processes, increase automation, lower costs, and raise operational efficiency.
- Assist with solution testing, UAT, and change management activities when needed.
Required Experience and Skills
- Demonstrated background as a Business Analyst in Agile delivery teams.
- Practical experience using Jira and/or Azure DevOps.
- Strong capability in writing user stories, managing backlogs, and defining acceptance criteria.
- Experience creating process maps, workflow models, and journey maps in tools such as Figma, Visio, or similar.
- Good grasp of SDLC, requirements engineering, and systems analysis.
- Ability to assess technical needs, system limitations, integrations, and solution fit.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving ability, including root cause analysis.
- Comfortable working independently, balancing priorities, and delivering in a fast-moving environment.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience in operational technology environments is highly valued, especially in policing, emergency services, or public sector settings.
Desirable Skills
- Previous work in government or other public sector environments.
- Exposure to security, identity, and access management frameworks.
- Understanding of business process improvement methods and change management practices.
- Professional certifications such as CBAP, CCBA, PMI-PBA, or Agile credentials are a plus.
