Job description

Role Overview

This role is for a seasoned Business Analyst who can shape requirements, design processes, and ensure proposed solutions align with business goals across technology-led initiatives. You will partner with business users and technical teams to convert needs into practical requirements and help deliver outcomes in an Agile delivery setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Gather, assess, validate, and document requirements, including BRDs, user stories, use cases, and process maps.
  • Run stakeholder workshops to review current processes, uncover pain points, and define the preferred future state.
  • Analyze the gaps between existing systems and processes and the planned solution.
  • Convert business needs into clear functional and technical specifications.
  • Model end-to-end business workflows and customer journeys and connect them to the supporting technology.
  • Create PoC and demo scenarios for product and solution evaluation.
  • Own and improve the backlog through prioritization, user story writing, and acceptance criteria definition.
  • Take part in Agile rituals such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Keep the Project Manager informed with regular updates on progress, risks, dependencies, and blockers.
  • Spot opportunities to improve processes, increase automation, lower costs, and raise operational efficiency.
  • Assist with solution testing, UAT, and change management activities when needed.

Required Experience and Skills

  • Demonstrated background as a Business Analyst in Agile delivery teams.
  • Practical experience using Jira and/or Azure DevOps.
  • Strong capability in writing user stories, managing backlogs, and defining acceptance criteria.
  • Experience creating process maps, workflow models, and journey maps in tools such as Figma, Visio, or similar.
  • Good grasp of SDLC, requirements engineering, and systems analysis.
  • Ability to assess technical needs, system limitations, integrations, and solution fit.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving ability, including root cause analysis.
  • Comfortable working independently, balancing priorities, and delivering in a fast-moving environment.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience in operational technology environments is highly valued, especially in policing, emergency services, or public sector settings.

Desirable Skills

  • Previous work in government or other public sector environments.
  • Exposure to security, identity, and access management frameworks.
  • Understanding of business process improvement methods and change management practices.
  • Professional certifications such as CBAP, CCBA, PMI-PBA, or Agile credentials are a plus.

Additional Information

  • Only candidates with unrestricted working rights can be considered, as sponsorship is not offered.
  • Because of the number of applications expected, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
