Where you'll work

Job description

Overview

Join a founder-led team shaping wedding websites, digital invitations, and matching stationery suites that couples genuinely enjoy using. This role centers on building cohesive design systems across web and print, observing what users actually choose, and refining the experience quickly based on real-world data. You will also contribute to the company’s evolving brand as the business scales.

About the role

This is an in-person position based in Melbourne, Australia. You will work directly with the founders each day and take ownership of one of the most visible parts of the product experience. The company is intentionally small and expects people to operate with a high level of independence, manage their own priorities, and move work forward without constant supervision, while still having support when needed.

Because this is a key role in the team, shortlisted applicants will be asked to complete a small paid design exercise built around a real business problem.

What you'll be responsible for

  • Owning the wedding website template library, including new themes, variations, collections, and updates to existing templates.
  • Creating coordinated stationery suites such as save-the-dates, invitations, and thank-you cards to align with each template family.
  • Designing responsive, production-ready web layouts that fit within real technical limitations.
  • Keeping typography, spacing, layout systems, imagery direction, and overall tone consistent across the full wedding suite.
  • Using a test-and-learn approach to study what customers select or overlook, then applying those insights to future design decisions.
  • Designing and refining landing pages for experiments aimed at improving conversion.
  • Helping shape the brand style guide and visual standards so the product feels unified.
  • Partnering closely with developers to bring designs through to implementation.

What we’re looking for

You should bring strong foundations in visual design, along with a portfolio that shows you can build connected systems and design families rather than isolated one-off pieces. Experience working on web projects and collaborating with developers is important, as is a working knowledge of HTML and CSS sufficient to design within practical constraints and communicate effectively with the engineering team.

You will need to be comfortable designing across both digital templates and print stationery, and to manage your own time and direction with minimal oversight. Clear communication and a collaborative approach are also essential.

Nice-to-have experience includes conversion-focused landing page design and experimentation, creating or maintaining brand style guides, knowledge of print production details such as bleeds, colour profiles, and specifications, or a willingness to learn them. Interest in expanding into web app UI work over time would also be valued.

Benefits

  • Significant ownership of the design function rather than working only in a support capacity.
  • Direct access to the founders and meaningful influence on product direction.
  • A small, low-process team with a strong shipping culture.
  • Work that is visible to real customers and used in real life.
  • A paid design exercise for finalists.
  • The tools and equipment needed to do strong work.
