Role overview

BioSens8 is hiring a Bioinformatician to support protein discovery and mapping efforts within a fast-moving startup setting. The role calls for a strong blend of computational biology, database work, and collaborative scientific problem-solving.

What you’ll bring to the role

• A master’s or doctoral degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or a closely related discipline, with an emphasis on protein discovery and mapping.
• Hands-on programming experience in common bioinformatics languages, including Python, R, and Perl.
• Good grounding in molecular biology and the way protein structure relates to function.
• Practical exposure to bioinformatics software and biological databases used for sequence analysis, structure prediction, and pathway analysis, such as BLAST, HMMER, Pfam, PDB, and KEGG.
• Experience creating, developing, and maintaining SQL databases.
• Familiarity with machine learning and data-mining approaches used on biological datasets is a plus, including applications such as SSNs, molecular docking, and modeling.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to contribute effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
• A self-driven working style with the flexibility to perform well both independently and collaboratively.
• Interest in working in a fast-paced startup environment.

Work setting

This is a full-time, onsite position based in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
