Job Summary
The Bid Engineer supports the end-to-end creation, coordination, and submission of competitive technical and commercial proposals for IT products and services. In this role, you will work closely with sales, technical specialists, vendors, and finance teams to deliver accurate, compliant, and high-quality bid responses that match customer needs and the company’s overall strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Review RFPs, RFQs, and ITTs to interpret technical, commercial, and compliance expectations.
- Work with technical teams to shape solution designs, bill of quantities, and technical content.
- Compile bid packs, including technical submissions, compliance matrices, and pricing support documents.
- Assist with commercial pricing work such as margin analysis, OPEX/CAPEX calculations, and price templates.
- Coordinate with vendors and OEMs to collect quotations, product datasheets, and mandatory certifications.
- Make sure all bids follow customer instructions, required formats, submission timelines, and internal approval steps.
- Track bid timelines, manage action items, and chase outstanding inputs from internal stakeholders.
- Support risk reviews, assumptions, and clarifications connected to each bid.
- Help with post-submission activities, including clarifications and presentation preparation when needed.
- Keep bid records, lesson-learned notes, and standard templates updated and organized.
- Ensure all work follows company quality standards and bid governance procedures.
Required Qualifications & Experience
A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a closely related discipline is required. The ideal candidate should have 2 to 5 years of experience in bid management, presales, or proposal engineering within an IT or ICT setting. Practical knowledge of IT solutions such as networking, infrastructure, cybersecurity, cloud, and data centers is important. Experience dealing with OEMs and vendors like Cisco, Dell, Fortinet, Palo Alto, and VMware will be considered an advantage. Exposure to RFP and RFQ processes in enterprise or government environments is preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong analytical thinking and keen attention to detail.
- Clear written and spoken communication.
- Ability to handle several bids at the same time while meeting tight deadlines.
- Advanced use of Microsoft Office, especially Excel for costing tasks.
- Solid understanding of pricing models, commercial terms, and margin concepts.
- Collaborative, proactive, and comfortable coordinating across departments.
- Well organized with strong time-management habits.
Preferred Attributes
- Experience using CRM platforms or bid management software.
- Knowledge of GCC tendering practices is an added advantage.
- Understanding of compliance requirements such as ISO standards, SLAs, warranties, and support models.
- Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
