Role overview

Nottinghamshire County Council is recruiting multiple Benefits Officers for its Countywide Benefits Team, part of Adult Social Care and Health. The team’s purpose is to help residents improve financial resilience, access the support they are entitled to, and live independently wherever possible.

In this position, you will support people in understanding their benefits, increasing household income, and getting guidance through a complex welfare system. The work is based at County Hall, West Bridgford, with a hybrid working arrangement.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver specialist benefits guidance, mainly over the phone, to residents.
  • Help clients identify entitlements and complete better-off assessments.
  • Support benefit appeals and contribute to training for colleagues and partner organisations.
  • Work alongside wider teams, including Adult Care Financial Services.
  • Represent the service at events and help build effective partnerships that improve delivery.

What you need to bring

  • Demonstrable background in providing expert benefits advice.
  • Current, practical knowledge of the benefits system.
  • Awareness of Adult Social Care and Health, including financial assessments for care charges.
  • Strong numeracy ability and confidence using IT systems and applications.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • A full driving licence and access to a vehicle for travel.

Working arrangements and contract details

This is a fixed-term, full-time post for 24 months, working 37 hours per week. The role is based at County Hall, West Bridgford, NG2 7QP, with hybrid working available. Competency framework level: Tier 7b. Interview date: 15 July 2026. Closing date: 05 July 2026 at 23:55.

Pay and benefits
