Job description
Job Purpose
The Bakery Commis supports the bread-making function by working closely under supervision to help prepare bread and related bakery items. The role focuses on maintaining ingredient quality and following the required production process.
Key Responsibilities
- At the start of each shift, verify that the station has the right products in stock based on the agreed par levels and raise requests for missing items from the internal store.
- Prepare bakery products in line with recipes, HACCP requirements, portion standards, and presentation expectations.
- Work with the kitchen team to ensure orders are completed on time, accurately, and in an appealing manner, and then send the prepared items to the relevant outlets.
- Take part in opening and closing tasks for the pastry section while following company procedures and operating standards.
- Prepare bakery delivery orders for outside customers promptly and ensure packing is done according to the specified guidelines.
- Keep the workstation clean and hygienic throughout the shift by cleaning the fridge, shelves, counter, and utensils, and by sharpening knives at the end of the shift.
- Follow all security, fire, and general safety rules and immediately report any incidents to the relevant authority.
- Monitor product shelf life, label items with production and expiry dates, track waste levels, and estimate future supply needs.
- Develop a solid understanding of bakery and food products so you can respond to customer questions and share relevant information when needed.
Language and Education Requirements
The role requires fluency in English. Arabic fluency is an added advantage. A high school degree is required.
