ATM Operational Specialist

Role overview

This position focuses on operational support for the TopSky One product, including ATM, BYPASS, and SIM components. The role sits at the intersection of air traffic management operations, dataset preparation, engineering coordination, and customer-facing project support.

Key responsibilities

• Build a strong working knowledge of the TopSky One product suite across ATM, BYPASS, and SIM.
• Review current operational and delivery processes, then help improve them through joint engineering efforts.
• Partner with the team to refine methods used to manage design and development activities.
• Contribute to solution design discussions alongside Product Owners and System Engineers.
• Take part in Sprint and Product Increment demonstrations and share feedback on the outputs delivered.
• Create and maintain datasets required for Test & Evaluation work.
• Prepare and submit artefacts needed by the team in line with project milestones such as demonstrations, testing, and site activities.
• Support the preparation of datasets for both internal stakeholders and customers.
• Work with Software Integration teams to automate dataset-related tasks as much as possible through integration pipelines, including generation and automated testing.
• Coordinate with System Integration and Verification teams to understand their needs and the timelines required to address them.
• Coach and support engineering teams so they develop a stronger understanding of the operational environment.
• Assist with design reviews and workshops by contributing operational expertise.
• Collaborate with Support teams during contract transition activities with the customer.

Required experience and qualifications

• Instructor-grade credentials or a qualification in Air Traffic Control are required.
• At least 5 years of experience in Air Traffic Control management is expected.
• Hands-on experience preparing datasets for an ATM system is needed.
• Strong familiarity with the TopSky One ATM domain and air traffic management standards such as ICAO, Eurocontrol, and AID is important.
• Applicants should understand the purpose of datasets and adaptation data, along with their operational impact.
• Experience using engineering tools such as DOORS and JIRA is required.
• Knowledge of ILS processes is needed.
• Working knowledge of scripting languages such as shell, bash, Python, and macros is expected.
