Job description

Company overview

Foley & Foley, PC is a nationwide employment and labor law firm focused on workplace law and representing employers only. The firm supports organizations of all sizes with services such as defense in employment litigation, HR compliance reviews, employee handbook development, workplace investigations, and benefits administration.

This opening sits within Foley Fractional HR Solutions, the firm’s expanding fractional HR practice. The team provides practical HR leadership, operational support, and legal insight to help businesses address workplace issues proactively and build stronger HR systems.

Founded in 2007, Foley & Foley brings together many years of legal and hands-on HR experience to provide responsive, business-focused solutions to clients across the country.

Role summary

Foley & Foley is hiring an experienced Associate Human Resources Generalist to support the growing Foley Fractional HR Solutions practice. This full-time remote position is suited to someone who can work across several client organizations, offering practical HR support while partnering with employment attorneys to ensure guidance is aligned, compliant, and usable in the real world.

This is not a standard in-house HR position. Instead, the Associate HR Generalist acts as an embedded HR resource for multiple clients, helping them handle everyday HR matters while improving policies, documentation, and overall HR infrastructure.

The role reports into and works closely with the Senior People & Culture Advisor and Practice Leader, contributing to both client-facing assignments and internal projects, with exposure to strategic as well as operational HR work.

What you will do

  • Act as a day-to-day HR point of contact for assigned clients through phone and email support.
  • Help manage employee relations concerns, including performance management, investigations, and separations.
  • Support the rollout of effective HR practices across client businesses.
  • Prepare and refresh employee handbooks, policies, job descriptions, onboarding resources, and other HR documents.
  • Assist with onboarding, offboarding, employee communications, and organizational structure work.
  • Work with Foley & Foley attorneys on sensitive compliance topics such as leave, wage and hour, discipline, and termination matters.
  • Partner with the Senior People & Culture Advisor and Practice Leader on deliverables, audits, and strategic HR projects.
  • Contribute to HR audits, systems and infrastructure development, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Candidate profile

The preferred candidate will bring 2–4 years of progressive HR experience, a solid grasp of employee relations and HR compliance, and the ability to juggle multiple clients and priorities effectively. Strong judgment, professionalism in sensitive situations, and excellent written and verbal communication are essential. Experience in a fast-moving consulting environment is considered an advantage. A bachelor’s degree is required.

What makes this opportunity unique

  • Work with multiple industries and organizations rather than serving a single employer.
  • Gain direct exposure to employment attorneys and live legal decision-making.
  • Collaborate closely with senior HR leaders on meaningful client work.
  • Help create and strengthen HR functions instead of only maintaining them.
  • Join a growing practice backed by an established employment law firm.

Work location and travel

This is a primarily remote, full-time role. Candidates should be located within driving distance of Greater Boston, and travel to client sites may be required as needed.
