Job description

Role overview

An opportunity is available for an Assistant Project Manager to join the Water Sector team in Ireland. This position sits within a fast-moving environment where you will contribute to the coordination and delivery of multidisciplinary water projects and programmes, with a strong focus on technical quality, stakeholder satisfaction, and completion on schedule and within budget. The role may be located in Dublin or Galway.

The organisation is a leading consultancy in the water sector, working on a broad mix of assignments including water resources, wastewater networks and treatment, water treatment and supply, flood mitigation, and other specialist disciplines. Growth across the business has created this opening.

In this role, you will collaborate with experienced project managers, engineers, contractors, and stakeholders to support the successful delivery of capital works and programmes. A major part of the job will be building effective relationships and helping ensure delivery to agreed timelines, budgets, and quality standards. Strong client service is an important expectation for project management roles.

You will support planning and scheduling, monitor budgets and milestones, manage risks, and help ensure alignment with health and safety, quality, and environmental requirements. This position suits someone at an early stage of their project management career who is motivated by public infrastructure delivery. There may also be chances to work directly with client teams in a PMO capacity, helping oversee a project or programme of work alongside the client.

As part of the project management community, you will receive support for ongoing career development.

If you are interested in joining a team delivering innovative and sustainable water-sector solutions, this role may be a strong fit.

Candidate profile

Applicants should bring previous experience in a relevant position such as project management, project coordination, or engineering. Postgraduate experience in the water, energy, or another utility/infrastructure environment is required.

You should be able to develop productive working relationships and coordinate or manage work to meet deadlines. Initiative, self-motivation, strong communication, and good interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to work effectively within a team.

You should also show a strong interest in innovation and client service, together with the ambition to contribute to a growing team tackling a range of sector challenges.

About the employer

The wider organisation offers career opportunities for people starting out in engineering or seeking a new challenge. Based across Dublin, Galway, Castlebar, and Cork, the team is recruiting people with experience in areas such as water and wastewater treatment process and network design, integrated network management, structural design, site development, road and bridge engineering, project management, and administration.

The company is known for a dynamic workplace, a strong industry reputation, and a team-oriented culture where contributions are recognised and valued.

The business has also received silver Investors in Diversity accreditation from the Irish Centre for Diversity in recognition of its commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion in the workplace.
