Job description

Position Overview

The Assistant Project Manager for Energy will support the Energy Project Manager in planning, coordinating, and delivering projects tied to energy performance and infrastructure improvements across NYC facilities. Work will span energy efficiency upgrades, solar and other renewable installations, building decarbonization efforts, and related facility upgrades. This position contributes to projects through the audit, design, and construction stages while working with multidisciplinary internal and external stakeholders.

Core Duties

  • Help drive project development and construction administration tasks from start to finish.
  • Work alongside internal teams and outside partners to keep project activities aligned.
  • Assist in planning project work and finding practical solutions to technical challenges.
  • Monitor project progress, risks, change orders, budgets, schedules, and reported energy savings.
  • Manage support across several concurrent assignments, from smaller tasks to limited portions of larger initiatives, under the direction of the Energy Project Manager or engineering team.

Required Background

  • A bachelor's degree in engineering, ideally mechanical or electrical engineering.
  • Between 3 and 7 years of experience supporting or managing projects in energy, utilities, renewables, or construction.
  • Proven involvement in energy efficiency, renewable energy, or building decarbonization work.
  • Prior exposure to the NYC market and knowledge of local requirements such as LL88 and LL97 is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with DCAS, NYC DOE, NYPA, or similar public-sector agencies is also strongly preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents.
  • Solid understanding of project development and construction workflows.
  • Familiarity with project management tools, budgeting, and data analysis.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder coordination abilities.
  • Analytical, solutions-oriented approach to problem-solving.
  • Preferred credentials include PMP, DBIA, PE, or CEM.

Compensation and Benefits

The stated salary range is $80,000 to $120,000 per year. Final compensation may vary based on relevant experience, education, and work location.
