Job description

Position Overview

This tenure-track Assistant Professor role in the Education Department is set to start in Fall 2026 and runs on a 10-month academic appointment. The position centers on combining literacy instruction with proven approaches for supporting English Language Learners (ELLs).

Teaching and Program Responsibilities

  • Prepare future teachers to use research-based methods for supporting English Language Learners.
  • Teach courses on literacy development across childhood and adolescence.
  • Deliver instruction in pedagogical methods.
  • Contribute to the development of literacy and ELL-related curriculum.
  • Teach in both in-person and online formats.

Collaboration and Professional Practice

  • Work as part of collaborative teaching teams.
  • Engage in reflective teaching and learning as an active contributor to team-based academic work.
  • Partner closely with university colleagues and professionals in regional partner schools.

Scholarship, Service, and Promotion Expectations

  • Show evidence of strong teaching effectiveness.
  • Maintain a record of scholarly publication and academic activity.
  • Contribute meaningful service to the department and institution.
  • Meet the expectations for tenure and promotion through teaching, scholarship, and service.
